Looking at discrepancies in driver sentiment between different geographies within the U.S. might provide useful insights for Uber. Uber could look at certain cities not performing well in driver satisfaction and try to replicate this in other places. On the other hand, it could look into which places lead to the most discontent and try to focus efforts on improving satisfaction in those locations.
Uber Driver Sentiment by City--the following are the cities found with the best ratings
There are certainly cities that have greater sentiment than others. Some of the cities with the highest driver sentiments are above.
The "hover-over" map created using Plotly provides good intuition regarding the sentiment by state. Some of the more middle states that don't lie in coastal areas seem to have better overall driver sentiment for drivers. Some of these include Wyoming, North Dakota, and Mississippi.
Minimum Wage Laws by State and Driver Sentiment
The following was performed to see if the state's minimum wage law has an impact on the sentiment of Uber drivers. The logic is that being able to drive an Uber in States without a minimum wage is much better than the status quo of $0. However, as minimum wage increases, sentiment decreases as drivers compare what they are making to minimum wage and become increasingly dissatisfied. This is seen a bit by the plot, with a correlation of -.16 although more granular data would be better here to prove significance.
